NorthStar Network runs an international sports media platform. Its tools team owns the real-time data and APIs the rest of the platform depends on, serving more than 50 million users a month.
Critical APIs had to stay fast under heavy, spiky traffic while a team of five to ten engineers kept shipping changes to a growing codebase.
What we did
- Re-architected the critical APIs serving the platform.
- Redesigned caching with Redis and Elasticsearch around real access patterns.
- Built AI-driven internal tooling to automate recurring engineering tasks.
- Standardized and modernized backend modules across the codebase.
Results
- Lower P95 response times after the caching redesign.
- Less manual effort on recurring engineering tasks.
- A more maintainable codebase for the whole team.
